MATA-TOMO

MATA-TOMO brings together scientists worldwide to push forward
high-resolution Earth system modeling and its applications to weather and climate extremes.

MATA-TOMO

MATA-TOMO is a newly established international collaboration initiated by researchers from the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology (MPI-M), the Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute at the University of Tokyo (AORI), Monash University, and National Taiwan University (NTU). Its mission is to bring together scientists working on atmospheric, oceanic, and climate sciences to advance next-generation Earth system modeling, with a particular focus on kilometer-scale simulations, climate anomalies, extreme weather, and their societal impacts. Through joint research, open exchange, and active engagement of early-career scientists, MATA-TOMO seeks to build a vibrant community that accelerates scientific progress and strengthens global resilience to weather and climate extremes.
